WHO WE ARE
A group of graduate women
(minimum OND degree) interested in improving the mental, social, and physical
lives of women and girls in Nigeria, especially in Lagos State and particularly
in Ikeja.
Comprised of 85% young members (aged 45 years
and younger) NAUW Ikeja Branch focuses on reaching the younger generation,
whilst empowering the old.
FUNCTIONS
1. Advocate for better working conditions
for working women
2. Motivate and encourage professional education for women
3. Support equity in schools for girls and boys
4. Provide resources for the girl
child
5. Conduct research for the betterment of women and the society
CURRENT PROGRAMS
Ikeja
Club Excel
Club Excel concept was birthed at the NAUW council meeting held in Kaduna,
December 1997.
This is a club that supports adolescent girls in secondary schools. NAUW
members act as mentors
and models supplying the ladies with various resources. Ikeja Club Excel
officially began in April 1999.

- Recreational services
- Career counseling
- Forum for talent development
- Financial aid for tertiary education
Ikeja Teens
Resource Centre
This is a project sponsored by Virginia Gildersleeve International Fund
for Women, USA. Four schools in Ikeja local government area are involved
in this project.
Functions of Ikeja Teens Resource Centre
- Functions 1-4 as in Ikeja Club Excel
- Computer literacy programs
- Teen reproductive health research
