International
Women's Day
It’s March 8, 2006, International Women’s Day. I remember the first NAUW article I wrote on this day seven years ago. It was our first edition. How time flies! I was very naïve then. Now I am more balanced, skilled and resourceful. I was in Lagos this time seven years ago. Now I am in Loma Linda.
I was a physical virgin seven years ago, now I am a mother of two sweet
and energetic boys. I was determined to make a difference in the lives
of Nigerian women seven years ago, now I am more determined to make a
difference in the lives of Nigerian women. The method I thought would
work best has however changed. I’m smarter now. America has made
a positive influence on my thinking style. Many things I thought I lacked
are available to me. I realize now that I was cheated. I truly was shortchanged,
now however, I am empowered, and still being empowered.
